Err Like The envelope can be maximized for the area of the mesh, But it will start to over lap the others… How can the envelopes be used to fix a fat creature but still not over lap other bones ???
Use vertex groups instead.

Vertex groups or additional bones are probably going to be your optimal solutions.
Envelopes are nice to get a rough idea of how your rig will move, but I’ve always enjoyed the greater amount of control that can be obtained with vertex groups. At the very least, I’d recommend using extra bones. That way you can get some nice secondary flubber bounce with slow parenting.
hmm the second extra bones sounds better… It sounds weird but I would rather spend more tim adding bones than trying to control every single vertex. I like how tools create problems , and how they resolve things, I dont like to much control it no longer feels like art…
I just need better envelopes though
