I have created a skybox using spacescape. Now I am here with 6 images. How can I create a hdri environment map for the background node in cycles? I know I could use a box in the scene but I don’t want to do this.
In Blender the easiest way probably is to put these tiles on six sides of cube and render it out as equirectangular panoramic image. Place the camera in the center of the cube. The material of the cube should be emission shader with skybox images driving the emission color. Each face will have different material with the texture tile for that direction. Turn off all lighting, including environment lighting in the scene. Save the panorama as exr to keep the dynamic range.
