In blender 2.28c, whenever I use envmapping, the reflections are placed too largely on the object. I know perfectly well how to do envmapping, I have cmir on in the material buttons, refl as the texture coords, and I have all of the regular settings in the envmap settings. I know why this happens; the center of the object takes “pictures” of the six sides of the object, and then maps it accordingly. When I have a sphere sitting right over a plane, and the plane has envmapping on, the sphere is the only thing the planes “up” camera sees when it renders that view, so on the top of the plane, all you see is the bottom of the sphere. Can anyone give me a blend that shows the right way to do it?
Have you placed your empty? Look for my thread (in this subforum) entitled ‘env mapping a plane’.
I thought in 2.28c you didn’t have to place any empties! Oh well…
