I’m lookig for some epic rock songs, along the lines of We took Pelham by Deadly Avengers, or Requiem for a Tower by Clint Mansell (not rock, I know, but still epic!)
Thanks!

Requiem for a Tower is actually a slightly different version of Lux Aeterna by Clint
Here are some of my choices
Vicarious_Tool - Welcome Home_Coheed & Cambria - You Give Love a Bad Name_ Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead or Alive_Bon Jovi - Eye of the Tiger_Survivor - Another Bites the Dust_Queen - World in My Eyes_Sonata Arctica - Dont Stop Believing_ Journey - Separate Ways_Journey - Land of Confusion_Disturbed
Other non Rock epicness
Test Drive_John Powell - Earth City_Martin O’Donnell - The Dragon Boy_Spirited Away
This is just what i can think of right now…im sure this doesnt even come close to covering everything but i tried to vary it.
hope that gets yah started
well there are different kinds of epic rock as Irowbot said, so i can give you a few that i find to be epic. Astonishing Panorama of the end times - marilyn manson, can’t you hear my knockin - the rolling stones, Prey - Seraphim shock, black - seven dust, blitzkrieg - the deathstars to name a few.
Wow! Thanks for all the suggestions! I’m looking for songs without words, so some of these don’t quite fill the bill, but they’re great to listen to anyway. cultpuppy, have you ever listened to Everybody, by Goose? It’s very similar to Astonishing Panorama of the End Times.
Irowebot, Test Drive and Earth City are very close to what I’m looking for, but both of them are a bit “happy” sounding. I’m looking for something a bit more…doom-laden, I guess. And without words; I forgot to mention that in my original post.
Thanks again for the great songs!

Ok now I gotcha…
Try these…
By Ooshima Michiru from the Full Metal Alchemist ST (really good ST just check it all out)
Shinsoku - Gouyoku - Kandatsu- Kenran - Kaichou- Yuukoku - Rouko
From World of Warcraft… Hey you cant deny they got great music!!
Xaxas - Assault on New Avalon
Classics (Theres a download album on Amazon for 1.99 99 darkest classical music pieces)
Tocata and Fugue - O Fortuna - Montagues and Capulets
Also Try
Apocalyptica havent heard enough of them to make any song recommendations but they have the sound you are looking for. Rock with Classical mixed
OH and i almost forgot Try http://www.streamingsoundtracks.com/ just let it run in the background
Wow! That’s awesome! I love O Fortuna, forgot to mention it in my original post, but its one of my favorite epic songs. I’ll listen to all the other ones you suggested too, especially Apocalyptica; I remember hearing one of their songs on Pandora.
I’m so glad you brought up Apocalyptica. It has exactly the sound I’m looking for! All of their songs are great; I can’t decide which ones are best!
Thanks again,
PinkSkink
Yeah Apocalyptica is pretty awesome. Did you check out some of the songs by Ooshima? Just curious what you thought.
Actually I couldn’t find any of Ooshima’s songs. I expect there are some on Youtube, but I’m not allowed to go there, so…
If you know of any other place where I can listen to her songs, you could send me a link, though. I’d love to hear them!
Hmm that does make things difficult. I did some looking and i cant find anywhere other than Youtube where you can listen to it with out buying it. Amazon has the album but only on actually CDs, not just to download. Its sad its so tough to find good music sometimes.
here i found this site and it has them all… the only thing is the vids are all linked to youtube, but the site is not youtube itself so it might work for you
http://wn.com/Fullmetal_Alchemist_OST_2__Greed
Edit: it doesnt have them all, and looks like it has other extra songs but theres a few from the score there.
lol. I just wanted to give a thumbs up for Lux Aeterna (aka Requiem for a Dream [aka Requiem for a Tower]) and O Fortuna…
velut luna… statim variA----BI----LIIIIIIIIS!!!
And I’ve sort of been in your situation before, albeit without the restrictions from youtube (don’t you love being a minor with a caring parental unit? ). My advice to you: find some media that you really enjoy. The Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, or Death Note anime series for example. Or, if that’s not to your (parents…?) taste, maybe try expanding your interest in video games, movies, or a particular genre/band/artist/composer (<3 beethoven).
Soon enough, you won’t have to ask people for awesome sounding music, and you’ll have a real, emotional bond with some great music. I hate the feeling that I’m taking someone else’s music and not enjoying the original “stuff”. For instance with Zelda Reorchestrated I really felt like I needed to play the games to understand the music. Fortunately my friend lent me his copy of OoT, and I was already a TP and WW fan. On the other hand, Matti Paalanen’s music is so deeply touching you feel like it has to be associated with something awesome.
No “real” suggestions for the topic at hand, tho. Those are just some awesome musicks.

Well, I don’t really mind whether or not my parents like the music I listen to; so long as it doesn’t have obscenities and I don’t turn it up too loud they don’t mind.
I really don’t need to ask people for awesome music most of the time, but this time I’m looking for a very specific sort of sound (It’s for the movie we’re making). So I can’t really rely on stumbling onto it by chance.
And I’m not really sure what OoT, TP, and WW mean…I’m guessing they’re video games?
Irowebot, thanks so much for the link! I agree, it’s so difficult to find good music without buying it. Right now I’m looking for “Festival March” from the Aladdin Suite, by Carl Nielsen. I haven’t been able to find anything more than 30 second clips.
Thanks again,
–PinkSkink
Ah ok. Well there are no curse words in those Full Metal Alchemist songs by Ooshima. they are all instramental.
Exactly. I really like some of them, especially Gouyoku and Ashes. Thanks for the great suggestion!
–PinkSkink
Sure thing, im glad you liked them. If you have any awesome music suggestions im always on the look out.
Well, the stuff I listen to is probably not to your taste…its quite different from Ooshima and such. But here are a few of my favorites anyway:
Sun and the Rain by Madness
Tommorrow’s Just Another Day by Madness
Michael Caine by Madness
Ghost Town by The Specials
London Calling by The Clash
I Am by The Suggs
The Ipcress File by John Barry
Zulu by John Barry–This one is really good!
Most of these songs can be found either on iLike or Jango. To get to Jango, just type up that song’s name plus “Lyricsfreak” That site usually has a link where you can play the song on Jango (It’s the little orange play button on the left side)
I’m sure you can find them all on Youtube too.
Enjoy!

P.S. My brother likes the band She and Him and their songs “In the Sun” and “Why do you Let me Stay Here?”
X Japan is very epic sounding, and fast. They also have ballads. Here’s some tunes I suggest(these are the names of the songs):
Week End
X
Kurenai
Silent Jealousy
Here’s a video of the song I’ll Kill You:
Hi Henrymop! Thanks for the suggestions. Sadly, I’m looking for songs that don’t have words. Thanks anyway, and if you know of other epic songs that don’t have words, I’d love to hear them.
–PinkSkink
Irowebot, have you listened to any of the songs I suggested? Just curious to know if you liked any of them.
