This is what happened after I rendered a scene and minimized the output window. I have to close blender and reopen it.

I found a solution: start GIMP before I start Blender.
It’s strange and I don’t know how this works, but this will solve the erratice blender display problem and everything will display normally in blender.

something is moving stuff around in your graphics card memory
… which I’ve seen before, but it’s usually not exactly this problem
my common solutions are:
a) updated drivers
b) 16 bit color mode [sometimes 24 bit works better though…]
it appears you could also benefit from an upgrade to xp
if you rotate the view or something, does the problem go away?
what graphics card do you have? which version of windows?
