Error: version backup failed

Hello, I suddenly having trouble saving my files. When I go to save I get this error message:

version backup failed. file saved with @

Dose anyone know what it means or why I’m getting this message? I tried saving the file to my desktop and it work but I would be a real pain to have to save to my desktop everything and the move the file later.

I know this post is old but I have encountered the same error and I wanted to comment on it.

A common cause of this error is having multiple blend files open with one file attempting to link or append objects from the file you are attempting to save.
