So I started learning Blender becasue I wanted to make some Dota 2 items. One of the Tutorials has a sword so I decided to make a more complex one and it ended up looking like a great item for Wraith King
Its far from complete but I thought I’d post it anyway. Eventually I’ll make it into a dota item but this is about a 100 times over the budget for dota but it looks cool so I decided to finish it as concept are.
I’m hoping that since I’m new to Blender you guys could help me out. I’m trying to get a flame inside the glass orb at the end of the sword handle. I seem to be unable to get the halo’s inside the glass orb to render when the glass orb is set to raytrace. They will render when its set to z-transparency but it does not look like glass.
Thanks, glad your inspired. The blade is made from a plane, Set into shape and then extruded. The entire blade gets some relectivity. The blade edges get this distored flame colour. It was red flame initiall and I’ll post that to but I thought it would go well with Wraith King so I made the flame blue. The main part of the blade has some transparency applied. This isnt obvious with nothing behind it yet so I may increase the transparency to make it more obvious or I might render with a background. The spine of the blade has the same colour as the main blade but no transparency. Finally I have a metal shavings texture applied with a low colour setting to to the blade so its not just a flat image.
It was initially inspired by a drawing my brother did of a sword where the blade had been shattered but somehow a mystical flame held the pieces of the blade in place. I’ll do that too eventually but as I was fooling around with ideas this happened so I figured I’d finish it
