As a resident of Canada, I experienced quite a few heatwaves while living in Toronto years ago. The smog was quite unbearable. The heat was crushing, I couldn 't sleep at night, and then I had get up early after a lousy night of limited sleep and go to work next to a metal heat treat oven in a factory. So, my heart goes out to those in Europe suffering from the heatwave and I hope it goes away.
I like it this way, nice and hot!
Well, I guess if you live in north and you are not used to this, it’s a pleasant change…
But in any case 40 C, in Germany and France, is not a very pleasant situation…
I think the weather has gone completely crazy…
Spyros.
jeez, i don’t know what everyone is complaining about. It gets to the high thirties (celsius) and people start collapsing.
Here we live with temperatures in the 40s without a problem.
Heck, my sister just moved to a place where it reaches the 50s.
well, just a few years ago when we got 30 we said that it was hot, and it was. Now around here we have to get 35 to say it’s hot.
It’s just that, if 50 was usual here we would be used to it, and wouldn’t feel it. But it’s not. There are people in the desert who would have huge problems at the northern pole, and vice versa, their body is just simply not used to it, that’s all.
But I’m doing just fine, thanks.
Um, one other thing, air conditioning (especialy digital) in cars is luxury around here, home air conditioning is even more luxury, so when it’s 35 outside, it’s around 35 or more inside as well.
We are often getting around 40C here in Quebec…and it’s not very pleasant…and I heard there were alot of deaths in France because of the heat about 3000 I think that’s really bad
yes and people usually don’t die just because they are whiny (how do you spell this word?)
we aren’t used to it we don’t usually get 40 degrees in F never mind C. Although i wnt to kuwait a few years a go where it was about 55C all year round. Although officially the temprature was 49C becuase at 50C everyone get’s off work.
i rode strassbourg / basel in one day by 38 degrees by bike, so i can live with the temperatures now
You’re right about that People come up here from the South, where I presently live, and find it cold in the winter. I don’t find it cold, I go play hockey on a rink when it’s -25 and go snowshoeing when it’s -30.
Heck that’s warm compared to how cold it gets: -45 -50 or used to get in the past That’s a picture of what it looks when it gets cold up here.
lol, i can just imagine someone getting a hammer and just shattering those tress. At least my mind thinks they would shatter.
I don’t understand how people can die just because it gets in the high 30s. Don’t they think they need water or something.
things you could do to understand:
1, learn biology
2, look at the statistics of those who died (age, living conditions, etc)
3, go, live in a place where you can’t get to anywhere climatized, can’t get water allthat easily, or the overall living conditions, healthcare is worse, and the temperature rises 5C is 2 years or so at summers.
I’m sorry to say this, as I’m not the flaming type, but you are ignorant. Just out of curiosity, how warm is the air where you are typing right now?
Can you get a glass of water right now?
The branches break easily.
People are climatised to where they live. If the temperature varies from the norm then the elderly , the ill, and the very young are susceptible to heat stress. Maybe if everyone lived in the desert or in the tropics, then the heat would not be a problem, keep in mind this is a part of Europe we where the average temperature does not come close to anything in the southern US.
