amazing work !!!
the model look nice, but its to glossy !!! more like a toy !!

thanks !
in fact, I have no idea of the material I want for the Eva, and I found some plastic material way better than the others I try …

you can try and see what normal robots would look like and give it a try
like the Pacific Rim robots !!!

the problem is I absolutely dislike this type of render : too matte, too dirty, dusty; I have already done a dirty yellow robot([https://www.flickr.com/photos/totopremier/40271669600/in/datetaken/)] and don’t want to redo the same thing …
but my lights and Hdri are probably too “much” …

maybe or maybe you just need to add a rimlight to the scene !!!
it might make it even nice !!

original project :

like you see, matte, all the “basical” lights, but without interest…
I have made test with a rim light, but even more glossy : the problem (I kow it) is the material … but for the moment I try to made a “better” topology to post it in blendswap …it seems that I have to change the material before posting it …
thanks for your advice !!

Hullo Toto!

May I suggest doing some renders with toon shading? I think that would look pretty cool for the Eva unit !

hello !
that’ s the first render have done for my video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Oot8ip4700), but I don’t find it very good (even with freestyle), so I scrapped the idea to do a 2d render in blender and start a new “render” in photoshop …!
the toon freestyle picture ;

If you are looking for flat shading, you should switch to shadeless in Blender Internal. Also, you should turn down the specularity on the model.

P.S. If you want to get a more controllable shader in Blender Cycles, there’s a way to do it. Just ask if you want it.
