Eventhalle

Hi! I’d present to you, my latest project created for Lindner Planungsbüro , and designed in with my cooperation.

Project of the event centre is located in the Sankt Marx section of Landstrasse, next to Marx Halle and the famous T-Center building. The concept of the project is to use the undesigned urban space, next to Marx Halle and propose the supplement to the event cultural surroundings.

The biggest challenge was to create the interior scene with a basketball match inside.
Players weren’t the problem, because I had found the perfect cutout to place, but audience members were a bigger piece to take. I created several 3d characters, with the Autodesk Character Generator. The quality of models were enough to use them in the background, but even though I needed to make them in motion to create the live audience atmosphere.
Motions were created with Mixamo software, with different “cheering” animations. Imported there models, had the default animation skeleton from Autodesk Character generator, so for Mixamo it was easier to apply rigging.
After that, I imported rigged models to blender and shadered them with default textures. I also created simple masks in character’s textures, where the top clothes were unwrapped, to differentiate them on white and red team fans.

The rest of it is easier: I created simply polygons where the model should be placed, and I created a scatter system with the Geo-scatter addon. The characters should be rotated to the centre of the playground, and should be distributed with opposite team’s colors and the one and the other side, and also should mix with each other with a smooth transmission.

I know, this project is a bit older, but recently I found the original EXR file to the one of the shots. I’ve decided to play it a bit and I’m coming to you with the new interpretation!

In the beginning it was supposed to be BW version only and that’s how it was color graded in the compositor, but I forgot to turn on “rgb to bw” node. And by that small mistake, I think, the final, colored image stand out even better to the originally planned BW version.

Now I see how my style and mood have changed over the years

Since I surmise that this “event hall” is a real place, I would love someday to see it. It looks like an amazing piece of architecture.
