Evidences Needed A.S.A.P. Please

Everyone,

My dad alarmingly is very convinced that ATI Radeon 9800 is the best… even better than Geforce FX because most benchmark results say that ATI Radeon 9800 beats all except Geforce FX 5800 ULTRA, which he will not buy since it’s a noisy card.

He still thinks Radeon is the best when I told him about how full support Geforce is in OpenGL… he just says, “But… ATI Radeon supports OpenGL too.”

Then, finally, he tells me that he will buy Geforce FX 5800 (not ULTRA), only if I can find solid evidences.

The evidences that I already have are (so you don’t repeat… ):

  1. Many 3D modeller/animator uses Nvivda card rather than ATI
  2. ATI Radeon 7200 on my computer doesn’t like Windows XP and plus it doesn’t run properly with some programs that are programmed in OpenGL even though my Radeon 7200 card is guarateed to be full OpenGL support. Yeah right.

I need the evidences A.S.A.P. because my dad’s going to buy a computer soon. Thanks.

Oh, I still am open to your opnion and your preference of Radeon or Geforce.

Well, not exactly an evidence, because I don’t have previous encounter with the models you are refering to…

But I think that Geforce support to OpenGL must be much better than in ATI cards…

I am using an ATI RAGE Furry Pro, card and I know it for a fact, that my card doesn’t “feel” very happy when I’m working with Blender…

All the Blender windows look a little bit “weird”, sometimes (especially after render…)… And I know for a fact that it isn’t a MesaGL problem, cause I have the latest version, so it should be much better than previous ones… It has to do with the ATI’s drivers… Haven’t experienced any lags or slow downs, though, when rendering…

Don’t know if ATI RADEON 98000, would work better in my case though… If the OpenGL compatibility is much better in this model, I’d say go for it, because actually ATI Cards are one of the best…

If not, then Geforce one, is better for your case…

Ciao…

Spyros.
