My WC entry: Excalibur. I went for a bit of a storybook feel, so if there is realism here it is strictly unintentional.
Very nice. It has a nice feel to it. Good work.
Only thing I can see which I could criticize is the stone. The edges look a little sharp. Other than thatt, it looks great
Thank you. And yeah, I was unsure about the stone,…it actually has a few more verts, so maybe I should have smoothed it a couple of times,…but I kind of liked the chunky feel to it.
It is moody. I like the feel of it. I imagine a knight kneeing left of the
stone, head down bowing. My critiques are about the grass and the
sky. The grass is the regular IMO, some varitions would look better
I think. Also I would add some more contrasts to the sky, I know
its foggy but still. Maybe a slight lightbeam to the stone ? %|
keep it up
Bob
its nice, put some reflections, and maybe use particles to make the grass…
its look better i sure you.
Good Work!
Well, I’m not really going for realism. In fact I added some radio, and i had to take it out because it added too much realism.
no shadows?
nope. their was something wrong w the ground mesh. it would not take shadows. <shrug> Besides, with the fog, there wouldn’t be much of a shadow anyway.
Nice, I like the intentional non pr look. I think too many people are too hung up on photorealism. Good work. I like the flowers, the sky, and the overall gouache/acrylic painting look.
Thanks man! How goes the claymating?
The claymating is going great. I’m made a high rise out of papier mache as well as a light house. I saw a cool TV show for kids and they made these props by wrapping cellophane around a mold and then applying thin strips of toilet paper mache and painting it and leaving blank spots for windows. Then they put a small light inside and the light shone through blank areas. It looked real good. I’ll post some pics when my props dry out.
its nice, put some reflections,…
Again with the reflections? I collect swords. Every single one I have purchased or considered purchasing has such a low level of reflection that it wouldn’t be noticeable at that distance.
I think people are accustomed to seeing mostly display swords and movie prop swords, which are often made out of polished aluminum, chromed steel, or 440 stainless. Of course none of these materials are used in actual sword making. I too collect swords, my favorite being a european footmans sabre from the early 1700s. It is quite dull in complexion. Thanks for pointing that out, DW.
Like I said in the Weekend Forum I’m a big fan of this scene. I definatly think you should have gotten a lot more votes. Great mood in this scene, nice work.
Thanks, I thought your entry was really good too. Too bad about the no competing rule, or I’m sure you would have garnered a few votes for sure.
For me is a wip, if you would work more than 2 days on this, it will look very nice…
thats a nice pic =) and probably the best picture ive ever seen that didnt have shadows
But 1 8 7.
(Sorry for my OT-ing, this one just came over me)
blengine, it was weird,…the scene would simply not take shadows,…I think I must’ve freaked out the material too much or something,…believe me, I tried.
pretty nice Modron! however the sowrd is too simple for being excalibur, is city back there Avalon?
