Expected downtime this weekend

Hi,

I’m upgrading the memory of our server in a few hours, so if you don’t see elYsiun any more, don’t PANIC!

We hope the extra memory (we’ll be at 3 - 3,5 gigs then  ) will solve the errors we get now and then.

Roel

yay yay yay, I can hardly wait

 Wooooo Hooooooooooo.

Welps server is back up again, unfortunately the memory we purchased was of the wrong type (pc-1 instead of pc-2) so we’ll have to re-order some new memory :frowning:

And I’ll have to drive a 100 kilometeres AGAIN to the datacentre…sigh…

It’s all good exercise of the legs and arms, Goofster! Actually, maybe not on an American highway with cruise control…

Newegg.com is great. Sale prices and you don’t even have to do any driving. 8)

But I don’t think they ship to the EU. Oh, remind me never to move there. I couldn’t take it. :stuck_out_tongue:

You could try directron. Really good prices, and I’ve had much better experiences with them than with newegg.

But he still has to drive to the datacenter where the server is. It’s not in his house, you know. :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually seeing as we’re using a Dell 1U (?) server, he probably got dell certified memory through dell. Which lets us stay under warranty (provided we’re still under warranty…oh I hope so).

And I’ll have to drive a 100 kilometeres AGAIN to the datacentre…sigh…

Get on your bike and cycle. :stuck_out_tongue:

uuugghh not dell…

the memory needs to have ecc on it (well i hope it does) so its not normal or eaisily available.

just a thing why would you need waranty on a computer?
if it breaks fix it. theres not really much that can go wrong physically with it, maybe a head crash…

forshame goofster, not checking the memory before you ordered…

We don’t need ecc memory, ecc memory is slower and only required for critical applications where data needs to be error-free always. We don’t have that requirement at all.
