explosion animation in the game engine

Hey Blender Artists, I would like to know how to create an explosion animation with the game engine, specifically, the one I had just uploaded onto this thread. I would like to know, first of all, how to model this explosion, not with a plane, but with something else. I would also lilke to know how to animate this, so I would be able to play this in the game engine. I am open to any suggestions. Thanks:)

You have to setup the path the emitters have to go, plus the animations the particles should perform. You can combine different types of particles (see smoke and flame particles).
