I’m trying to find a way to export everything and import EVERYTHING from one blend file to another. Or at least export a character and everything that comes with the character, including all ipo curves and animations with it, bones as well. anyone know how?
that doesn’t work, i’ve tried it. it doesn’t import anything.
…It imports the entire scene…
Make sure you have the right scene selected, in the imported to file.
Cd27,
It works fine for me - Ubuntu 7.1 and Blender 2.46. Keep in mind, that the default scene name for a Blend file is “Scene”. So, if you happen to be importing a scene from another Blend file, that is also named “Scene”, it will be changed when appended to “Scene.001”.
Now you must do what scrag_10 said, select the appropriate scene in the selector at the top of the window.
Best of Luck!
ok, i appended the scene (i just didn’t see it last time i did it :P). if i just link it, it’ll deny me the ability to change ANYTHING in it, but if i append it, it’ll let me change it, but it won’t let it stay that way. like, if i move it or change any part of it, go back to my original scene, and then come back, it undoes everything i just did.
Cd27,
When you append, it is much like a copy. When you copy an oblect, many things come with it, such as mesh, material and IPO curves. It sounds like you are trying to move something that has an IPO curve already. If it does, if you save and re-open, the ipo curve will be telling the object to where to go (X, Y Z etc).
Best of Luck!
