I was just thinking about this and decided to ask. Is there any way to export a game into a format that can be played on the internet without having to donload a plugin.
Um, no.
No plugin would mean that it’d have to be coded in HTML… which isn’t really possible. Every kind of multimedia requires a specific plugin, Flash, Windows Media Player (though now that’s integrated into the browser), Quicktime, Shockwave, ect. Even Java would be a plugin, though it comes with all browsers now too. It’s not really a hassle for people to download the plugin, it only takes about a minute, and it’d be just like them downloading flash or something.

Well the plugin doesn’t work with some computers which is why I’m asking. I was also reffering to the formats that have the plugin default with most browsers.
what would be useful is a version of the player ported to java…
Not really since as of last summer Windows does not come with Java anylonger. It is a seperate download. And trust me you average game player does not know how to download.
ummm… most internet browers still come with java support. IE, netscape, mozilla, opera. Java-based internet gaming is still a very big thing. A port of the blender player to Java would allow any java-compatable browser to play blender games. Now thats alot better than having to download a special browser plugin to play blender games.

Has there been any attempt to have an export into java?
I agree that would be a really cool feature. It would be nice to make Java-based games with Blender. Unfortunately I don’t know any Java though, I’m still learning C++.
Are there any Java programmers here?
it would be slower than ball-bearing filled molasses going through a drinking straw
(and it would be a royal pain to make a .blend compatible java applet viewer. Not impossible, but very painful)

Oh, that’s too bad
