export material for 3d printing

Hello everybody,

before one week i made one question about how can i export materials for 3d printing. The answer is with .obj. But the problem is that when i have cycles render and i put on my object material and textur and i make the export as .obj the 3d printer does not recognise the textur. When i put blender render and i make the same steps everything is working. Does someone know why? With Cycles render i put also coordinates UVmapping but also doesn t work. When i make export, in the .obj menu i turn on selection only, include normals and materials groups and also the default settings.

Does someone know why?
Obviously the obj exporter only works with blender internal materials. What benefits are you hoping to get from cycles materials ? The obj format only exports diffuse colour, normal maps and image texture maps. It wouldn’t know anything about cycles fancy materials just like other software wouldn’t know waht to do with them.

A lil stupid question may be …How can I export a 3D file from Autocad 2010? … How thick are the layers of material in 3D printers?

Hello,

i i hope is not very late to answer your question. I don’t know how exactly you can export from Autocad but i believe that there is an option in File_export_… I am not sure. The Z-Corp Printer that i am working with needs STL, OBJ, 3DS Formats but maybe some other Printers take other Formats also. You have to ask. The thickness of the layers of your model, from what i have seen until now in my work, have to be 2mm at list. But also depend from the material that you want to use for printing. There are a lot of options and i believe that the best is to ask the Printing Company that you will make the model.

Please help, how can I export a 3D file from Autocad 2010?

John
sticker printing

i have taken some of the 3D print outs of stickers in the printing company. The best one that i have used is the 3DS format and gives a great printouts. I don’t know which printer you are using and what format.? But I suggest you have them printed with best printer and changed format.
