Export to Quicktime crashes the party.

Last week, I was able to animate a bouncing ball to a quicktime movie. Today, animating with quicktime as the file type crashes Blender. (CreateMovieFile error -50)

Any thoughts?

You need to be more specific:

  • What OS? What version of that OS?
  • What version of Quicktime? Pro or Basic?
  • What codec were you exporting to?
  • Which version of Blender?

There are known issues with exporting to H.264, in that sometimes the file that gets exported is total bunk and can’t be fixed. Other than that, without more information people probably won’t be able to help you.

Windows XP, Blender 2.42, Quicktime default settings. I’ve got regular quicktime installed, (not pro) but it never gets that far. The first frame never renders.

I have a similar problem: Blender just quits unexpectedly during the first frame rendering.
Blender 2.42a
OS X 10.4.7
Quicktime H.264 encoder

SOOO.

If I go in and reset the Codec each time, it works. Otherwise, blender crashes.

Odd.
