exported model with unwanted texture [SOLVED]

I made a Piper Cub that is used in FlightGear; the model was exported from Blender 2.49b as an AC3D .ac file. On startup in FlightGear the model gives 18 terminal error messages “osgDB ac3d reader: could not find texture “Cub_279_uv.png””"

It seems that 18 objects are looking for Cub_279_uv.png but I can’t find out which. I spent over 100 hours on this model and know it quite well. I’ve looked at all the objects’ materials in Outliner/Ctrl-A, selected and checked all objects in turn but there is no clue to a link with Cub_279_uv.png. The texture file was temporarily used during development as a UV guide when creating a single uv texture.

Any ideas where I should start looking so that I can fix the error, please?

One thing you could try is to move or rename the texture map. When (re)opening the file any offending parts should turn pink which should give you an idea of where to start looking.

Thanks for the idea Touchwood. Unfortunately the texture map is already removed (it was only temporary for aligning UVs). The problem is that some objects are looking for the already deleted map and I simply want to delete their links to the map so it tidies up the game.

Apart from checking each object in turn or using Outliner, I can’t find a method of listing which objects require this particular map.

Fixed, thanks to v2.56. I used the UV/Image window and selected the unwanted texture image and unlinked the datablock by shift-click. This set users to zero and permanently deleted all links and AC3D error messages (it doesn’t seem to work in v2.55).

(An update to FlightGear is due out in a few weeks; its free - and addictive).
