Exporting a fluid sim.

I was hoping to export a frame from a fluid sim I ran today, but couldn’t work out how.

How can I export the rendered mesh instead of the preview mesh?

I want to export to Maxwell, so I can export in either of these formats. .obj, .3ds, .dxf, .lwo. I can go via 3DSMax if need be or Lightwave 7.

I heard someone exported a fluid sim to Lightwave, how was this possible?

Thanks for any help,

Sonix.

Have you tried changing the Display Quality for the domain to final? Just a shot in the dark. I hope it works.

I did think about it, but the preview resolution can’t be raised above 100, whereas the render resolution can go up to 512.

I’ve found details on CGtalk with regard to exporting. I need to modify the .obj export script.

I’ll do some tests in the meantime and see if I can get it to work.

Cheers,

Was just playing with fluid sim, too. I found that using the apply deformation script creates a real mesh copy of the baked fluid. Perhaps it is a workaround?
