exporting blender models

I don’t really know anything about blender and all I really want to do is export a .blend model that I downloaded for use with the Ogre 3D engine. I’m using the OgreXML python export script, but it seems like it only exports components of the model that I have selected and when I select all by layer it exports each component as a seperate .mesh.xml file. How can I export it as one big model?

Select all the components and hit Cntl + J to make them one, then export.

And thus, what appears to be a bug has been discovered in blender. I open my model, Select > All by Layer -> 1 and then Press Ctrl + J, it thinks for a second and then blender crashes - no console output or error message.

I tried the same proceedure on my linux box and the exact same thing happens. Both are using Blender 2.41 and both are using Python 2.4.3. The console output in the linux version says:

/usr/bin/blender: line 46: 6824 Segmentation fault blender-bin $@

The model I’m using is this: http://www.katorlegaz.com/downloads/Blender_3D_Model_Repository/sci-fi/bsg-vipermkii.zip

Can anyone confirm the crash?

K, I didn’t have any problem when I used the latest CVS build from JMS, you can find that here: http://www.zoo-logique.org/3D.Blender/index.php3?zoo=com

Edit: It did crash for me using the official 2.41.

It does do crazy things with the materials though, because there’s so many. Might be good after export…
