Exporting hair system to Unreal Engine (4.24+)?


You may have heard about Unreal Engine’s fairly new import functionality for particle hair systems via Alembic. I’m wondering if anybody so far has had success exporting a groom straight from Blender for use in UE?

Come on guys, no one? I have the same issue but with 4.25 now. I have groom hair nicely done in Blender, and then I export in Alembic, but when I bring it into Unreal it is not a groom type. There must be something on the export in Blender, because I have had example ABC files that I just drag into Unreal and they work fine. These seems to be one tutorial floating around but it’s really a convoluted way and I don’t think that is correct, Plus I’m working with a hair cap here, no a whole mannequin. No luck so far, it seems that Alembic support in Blender is still lacking, let’s hope that it gets fixed soon, I really want that type of hair for my upcoming Blender/Unreal project!
