Exporting to .3ds with an armature?

So, I’ve just joined a small mod team which is making a HL2 mod. As of right now we are very small and are just beginning to put together maps/models/textures .etc. Now the problem is, the other modeler uses 3DS max, so format differences are a problem.

Long story short, I was going to give him a model I had made with an armature, but when it exported only the mesh was exported, and the model isn’t really worth anything without the armature.

So, is it possible to export to .3ds and get the armature, and the deformations? .obj would also work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The .3ds format doesn’t support skeletal animation, only vertex morphing. The .obj format doesn’t support any animation full stop.

Try the .fbx exporter if you want to move skeletal animation to 3DStudio Max.
