Exposed seams

Hi everyone,

I’m tinking around (<6months experience with blender) making static renders of interior scenes (aircraft, automotive and building).

Something I would LOVE to be able to do is add exposed stitching to uphostery.

Pardon the weird colors but this was a quick example I found on the web:

If I have an edge located right at the seam (so the location of the seam can be moved around easily), what is the best way to add the stitches? I think it would be possible with UV mapping but I think that would be overkill since I’m using the blender textures for the fabric and not UV mapping a custom image or photo.

Any ideas, guidelines or examples would be greatly appreciated.

Kindest regards,

Kristofor
