Exstatic needs 3D Blenders [X360]

Hey Guys,

My name’s Pete//Wagmance and im a Programmer!
I am currently working on a indie Title called “Exstatic”, which is being developed on the XNA Framework. The title is being built for the X360 platform, and we are hoping to release sometime this year onto the indie Marketplace.

Exstatic is a simple 2v2 Multiplayer FPS
a Fun, challenging and Skillfull game. The easiest way to explain the game is to call it a homage to games like CS 1.6, Halo:CE and Timesplitters. Titles where the Gameplay was nailed perfectly.
The Game is set in our century, and the art styling we are going for is a fairly “realistic” one.

The team currently consists of me and Tom the Sound Artist. Which will hopefully be expanding over the next couple of weeks

Currently we are in need for people to fill all of our 3D roles, and personally knowing how good blender is (and more-so some of the people who use it), i thought it would be a good idea to post a thread up on here!

Anyway, we are looking for:
3D Character Artists
3D Animator/Riggers
3D Weapon Artists

As stated. we are going for a fairly realistic look, so will be looking for modellers that can produce good realistic work. Characters are all humans, and will be steming from a Soldier/Military/Spy/operative backgrounds.
Animation work will also be all human based, walking, jumping, shooting/reloading etc.

We dont need a lot of work done, as we are primarily looking for quality over quantity. So if your a student/hobby-ist feel free to apply!
People can of course also apply for more than 1 role if they wish to do so, (for example if you can create characters and animate).

Like all indie projects, all positions are royalty based!
If your interested in a position just leave a reply in the thread with your e-mail (and some sample work/website if possible)
Any questions can also be dumped in the thread

and thats about it i think, thanks for your time!

ps: it wont let me attach any pictures/videos to my posts (im guessing its to stop from spammers).
you can take a look at some of our media on our website.
which is

(the website is still in construction)
people can also reach me at my e-mail

Hello Wagmance!

What level of realism are you looking for? Because I’m pretty good at modelling, but my texturing and materials are not insanely realistic. Also, how many polygons are you going for?

Note: I think that it’s not allowing you to post links because you do not have enough posts. I think you need 10 posts to add attachments and links.

Hey Dhaher!

Its kind of hard for me to explain the type of realism we are going for, since we dont have any real work to base it off atm!
But I will try and explain it as good as I can

We want our game to look as realistic as possible, without the need to be spending too much time on just 1 single element
(e.g. spending hours and hours creating just 1 texture).
In a nutshell: As Realstic as possible, without wasting too much time.

So we arent looking for AAA Game quality. Heck I would be one foolish man if i thought it would be smart for going with
Textures that we see in games like Crysis/CoD/Killzone etc etc.
But we are looking for something along the Lines of; Counter Strike Source, Half-Life 2. That kind of realism!

As for Poly Count, I wish i could give a proper answer to that, but this the first project where have had to worry about 3D models/Characters!
But again, im going to say somewhere along the CSS,HL2 line.
Im not quite sure what their numbers were, but something in the back of my mind is saying around 6k Polys.
If the artist wishes to make that number a slight bit higher, that is fine with us
Also, Normal maps can be used.

there is some consolation that if you just want to create the characters, there is only 2-3. and We are looking at a
time span of +6 months
Which is a lot of time to get those texture skill up to scratch :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope that helps clear a few things up, and i think your right about the 10 post thing :{

I’m happy to work on assets but i’m at school and will be unable to do characters or other time consuming modeling

Was the website down yesterday? i couldnt access it what so ever!

@patricia: do you have any experience with realistic human figures?

@newblend: we dont plan to have many 3D assets in the game (the majority of the levels will be built through GTKRadiant/BSP Brushes),so most the Models we need will be quite
complicated centerpieces. Just on that note i would assume they would take quite some time (especially the UV texturing since i know that is hell!).

good to see the site is back
we’re still looking for positions, and i can finally put up some example images!

hi wagmance,

are you looking for a score composer? i’d like to work on this game project to gain experience, but i’ve only been using blender for about a year or so.

but my audio work isn’t too bad, and i think the style would suit a game of this type.

please check out: www.seriousblackness.com/dervish
you’ll be able to stream tracks from there… start at the top of the list for latest work.

feel free to email and let me know your thoughts
