extrede along path

i did a profile then a path which is a circle bezier
i modified the circle to take the shape of an elllpse and subdivided 2 times
to get more precision then relocate the control point on the ellipse i had as a mesh before

i extruded and i got a circle extrusion ?

why it did not follow the ellipse shpe of the path i did ?

and why was the profile scale up which i did not want
just extrude with same scale !

i changed the scale and got my shape bakc not certain why it did that

and i was able to adjust the height with scale till i got the proper cross section

but i still don’t understand why the scale was changed from my original shape at the beginning
