Extrude along object local x-axis rather than global

I want my to extude along the objects local x-axis. My object has been rotated but i still want to extrude it along the x-axis that it was originally aligned with. How can i do this?

try E then XX Key to select local coordinates


Extrude then “X” will cycle through locking to local X, global X and unlocked.

Please note that you need to have Transformation Orientation set to Local or Global for this to work; If Normal or View are selected, x will toggle between unconstrained, global, and view (or normal) instead of local.
