Extrude along path - wrong dimension

Good morning everyone.
I’m new to this forum and also to using Blender.
I have a question that may seem stupid but, at the moment, I can’t find a solution.
I’m extruding a profile along a path. The profile is a square with a side of 20 cm (top right of the image), the path is a square with a side of 200 cm. The scale and rotation factor of both objects is 1 but when I extrude the profile, the result is an object with a section with measurements smaller than those of the starting profile (the section measures less than 20 cm). What am I missing?
Thank you.

Alessandro

Hi Alessandro, if you manipulated and applied the scale of your path, it might change the points radius, affecting the size of your section.

Thanks for your reply, Unbound Avatar, and the interesting and helpful video!
Unfortunately, the radius of the points is not the problem. As you can see from the image, the values of all points are set to one.
Why then does the section of the object not coincide with the size of the profile?

Here it is the solution: you have to switch from 3D to 2D shape in the path curve. In this way there is no resizing.

The question now is: when is useful to use 3D option in the shape tab?
