Extrude and Scale multiple loops of edges.

Hello,

I am trying to create a fan in Blender 2.64.

I wish to extrude and scale 3 faces to create the blades of the fan but only outwards.

Like in this:

original:

what i want:

|______/|
| |||
|/|

It works when I do it on 4 edges (1 face) but when I try to apply this on the the other 2 at the same time it only extrudes it but not the way i shown in the diagram.

Does someone know how to do this?

I’m not sure how you want to extrude so I’m guessing.
If you select the faces (face select mode, ctrl+tab) and press alt+e, you can extrude individual faces.

And if you then press alt+s, you can scale those extruded faces along their normals.
