I tried to extrude inwards after learning to extrude outwards. But when we extrude the corner blocks, it simply does not move away but leaves a shell behind. Why is it so ? Any fix available ? Thanks.
That is normal behavior prior 2.90, it does not disolve these faces, you have to correct it manually or update to 2.90.
Do you mean you want to extrude without the part that I highlighted in Red?
If the answer is yes then you’re in luck. rigoletto is correct that there is a new Extrude Manifold that works this way in 2.90 which was just released. https://www.blender.org/download/
How can I do that ? I mean, where is the option ? I tried deleting the extra face in edit mode, but it somehow cause more faces get deleted.
I just managed to learn what is where in 2.8. My version shows v2.82a in splash screen. If I am to move to 2.9, won’t there be many changes ? Also, I heard that 2.8 is LTS and 2.9 is not. I am really new and it would be harsh for me to start over again. Thanks.
Here are the steps, you need the knowledge to snap, merge and create faces for this solution.

2.9 doesn’t change very much. It just adds some extra tools, mainly. This isn’t like the huge change between 2.79 and 2.80.
