extruding back along normal z axis

How do I constrain along the z axis when I extrude back?

Select horizontal edge or if this is a 3d something, construct edge which represents direction you want to move. Add new Transform Orientation (N-tab bottom, + sign) based on selection; use this orientation instead of defaults (select where you see Global on image).

Eppo, I am now mixed uo . Not your fault. I’m too new to blender to understand. Is there not a function or addon that will extruc
de edges pependicular to the edges or face.?
