Hey guys,

Hope you all have a nice end of the year and had a merry christmas.
I wanted to share with you my latest personal animation work (modeling, texturing, animating, rendering and compositing in fact) did in blender 4.0 while being father for the 1st time (1st month was pretty easy compared to what I thought it would be).

It’s a traveling shot set at Australian F1 race track Albert Park in year 2012.

Compositing done in After effects adding not so much. I mainly used the composed pass from blender with the Photographer addon help. (Can’t imagine not working with this treasure).

Hope you like it.
Have a nice one everyone, see you in 2025.

Very nice animation!

Congratulations.
Do you want to know if it will continue to be this easy? :grimacing:

Thx :pray:t2:

It already is not so easy anymore haha ! CHanged pretty quickly :joy:

Though that maybe you would be interested by some BTS of the scene.
I will add more BTS soon. I used one geocode setup here and there to facilitate the set design and optimize performances. (way more efficace than Array modifier)

Car lookdev
For info the Big spherical Empty at the back of the car is the master parent that follow the trajectory (a bezier curve) and which provide the pivot point for rotation.

Wheels translate into rotation the master empty location.

On the video I show the used part of the shader for the body-paint and the tires.

Hey guys, I wish you a fantastic 2025 year!

Here is the way I generated the grand stands. Geo nodes that allows me to randomize animation etc.

Looks really good! Kinda got a vibe from Daniel Vasterbaek.

The shot with the gravel or debri is perhaps a bit to much. We wouldnt see something like that ona track

Thanks mate! Oh ok I did not noticed that.
It’s kind of my own style

In fact it’s really like that on track (as references shows it). hard to believe as tv shots rarely showcase it due to angles, shutter speed etc.

I gives you one of lots of references I gathered:

Also I can confirm that it is maybe not enough on my animation. I often went to race track for filming past years and it’s very dirty and messy during a race

Yeah, I can confirm that there are a lot of tire rubbers and dirt along track outside the trail (F1 cars, expecially the old good ones  were monsters).
Also motorcycles produce a lot of them, here my tires after the firsts 4 laps of the day (but many years ago, sigh):

Poor tires
Where did you go riding?

That time I was at Misano World Circuit.

Damn! Very nice!
The only race tracks I had the chance to race were Paul Ricard and the test track on the side of Paul Ricard.
F3 stage.

Mindblowing. Nearly frightening haha
