Face Filling Problem

I’m now making a wheel tire of a jeep by following the instructions on http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/Simple_Vehicle:_Wheel (Create the outside of the tire - Create the outside faces) with blender v2.65a.

These are the steps that I’ve done so far:

  1. Create a cylinder without ends
  2. Extrude inwards by individual faces

I followed all the values listed in the link aforementioned. However, when it comes to the part of Create the outside faces, the faces cannot be filled properly either by typing F or Alt+F. They are wrongly filled.

Could anyone figure out the problem? :frowning:
Or what can I do alternatively?

I attached the .blend file so that you can know the problem.

Thx JA12. The problem is solved.

For the book, yep, there is some outdated information in some parts, making me kinda difficult to follow. Maybe I’ll consider other more up-to-date tutorials.

Also thx for talking about topology and non-manifold stuff, which I am not quite familiar with. I’m gonna have a look at these terms.
