Face modelling and animation

I am looking for resources for face generation and animation (expressions). For example I found a program called FaceGen. Anyone care to offer suggestions?

Try Blender,
Model your head, using subbsurf, and then set up shapekeys for expressions or just use bone rigging with constraints and vertex groups.
If you just want to experiment, you can try out the Mancandy rig or the other rigs that are available for download. It’s better to make your own to learn from as well - I’m still studying how this works from the Introduction to Character Animation Book.
Good stuff!

Ludwig is great for study… its intuitive and I’m learning a lot from it (thanks sketchy3D).

you can take a look and download here http://cs.unm.edu/~sketch/gallery/resource/ludwig/ludwig.html
