Face modelling screen set up,please help

Hi all,
I can’t find anything specific in a search.
I’m having trouble setting up a split screen for a face modelling using extruded plane mesh. I can split the screen, load the background image in, and get top view on the front-of-face image, but I can’t get a side on view for the side-of-face image in the other screen.
Any ideas?

Much obliged
Rob

Are you loading the side view in the other screen view settings? Also, make sure your side view screen is in orthographic mode - if it’s in perspective, it probably won’t show up.

The numpad keys 1, 3 and 7 set the 3D window to front, top and side view.

Hmmm,
yup, I can get side view no probs, by hitting ctrl keypad-3 but I need to rotate that view by 90 degrees clockwise along one axis in order to make the mesh I have added vertical (and so correpsond the adjacent top view of the ackgrond image and plane). Also, if somehow I do manage to rotate that view 90 degrees, it means I wont have the grid in the background of the side view, which is annoying.

Umm, so you are not splitting the screen into two? Each view needs to be set up to an image, and possibly you should set up a third view for your rotation. I don’t know why, though, I use the mirror modifier to work on just the right side of the front view.

It’s okay, I figured it out.
You probably would believe that I was being very, very dense indeed. I was trying to set up top Vs side image, I just realised if I used a front Vs side image my problems disappeared.
Thanks for help
Rob
