Faces Deleting Themselves

Hi All!

I’ve recently been modelling a fairly basic car, with less than 10 posts I am currently unable to post a picture, but it should be easy enough to understand (I hope).

Basically, I had nearly finished the car, I then decided to model the wheel on a separate layer. Once I had finished this, I moved it back to my main layer only to find that several bits and pieces had faces missing. I have tried deleting the wheel and this made no difference. Is there anything I can do besides the pain staking task of re-doing each and every face that is missing? Sometimes, they are missing to the naked eye, yet I try to re-create them and I get told that they are already forming a face?

Many thanks in advance,
Emrys

They may just be facing the wrong way and depending on the shading view you use, these faces may not be visible from both sides
Remove any double vertices (select all and W / remove doubles)
Recalculate face normals (select all faces and Ctrl+N)

Aha, the recalculate seems to have worked. However, will require selecting each object, not too bad  Thank you very much, however, there is just one more thing, I would like to know why this would happen? So as to prevent it in the future. I probably should have added that all was well and every face was showing correctly prior to me creating said wheel.
