facial animation test with mdefs

I’ve been rigging a face using mesh deformers, and I’m quite happy with the results. Here a quick anim test for you:

or

(as some in IRC had problems playing it)

The tricky part was to keep eyes’ iris undeformed :eyebrowlift:

Impressive!
How responsive is it in openGL?
Are you ‘just’ using mdefs?.. For the mouth too?

All main deformations are mdef, but I am using shapekeys there for the character’s expressions (mouth). The mdefs are rigged with strechy bones so the volume is preserved. This setup is very responsive in OpenGL, actually if there would be a way to record the poses, I could perform live ! :eyebrowlift:

Cool! Very cartoony! I like the squash and stretch, but it seems mostly effective when used in moderation, like in the last part of the animation!
Cool!
