I believe one of the hardest things a new modeler will have to face when it comes to modeling humanoids, are facial expressions, especially if thier model isn’t remotely human. I was wondering if anyone had any links to some facial expression guides(mostly for those non numan models) , they would post it here for future reference.
I haven’t found the Repository of alien/monster/animal facial expressions, yet,
but in the meantime, this might help

Even if your character is non human, your potential audience, is, so you would want to create emotions/facial expressions that puny humans can “read”. E.g., a werewolf that is depressed, is going to use the same basic facial expressions and body language as a human that is depressed. Does that make sense?
non-human models…you mean like cats? dogs? Oh. Aliens. Here’s the thing, Zues, your aliens will be performing for a human audience, so to have their expressions recognizable, they’ll have to be human expressions. Take a look at Alien Song. Would you call the character remotely human? Every expression, every move, every gesture is very human. Has to be. Wouldn’t work visually, otherwise. Google “facial expression guides,” find a good one, and post a link.
Thanks for the feedback guys, And bloody hell to that link. That will be a great future reference man.Gracias amigos.
