fading gem

after a little tut for making a gem I added some rotation to it & some light movements:

 greets,

(I don’t suppose there’s any way of making the gem look transparent-ish … and yet not see it’s faces on the other sides very clearly ? )

try not to have spaces in the filename… but it worked  just a “bit” slow… like 2 kb/s… maybe it’s my connection which is just crap today

Are you talking about how light gets trapped in precious stones and stuff like that? There are ways, but (correct me if I’m wrong) I believe that is a job for a raytracer.

There is a texture plugin that simulates refraction.

I don't know how difficult it is to setup this Yafray thing I keep hearing about ... had problems when trying Povray ... :-( ... anyway ... would just plugging that in automatically make it look cool? Or woud you have to hand edit some stuff in there to make it look like it was crystal inside?

In order to use Yafray, you must also download Python2.2, and also Yable, as I understand it.

Yable/Yafray is more friendly than Powray

i found pov ray to be quite easy and like it yafray needs some tweaks once inside.
