faking Apple's Core Animation

Hello,

If you take a look at this, you’ll have to agree that this is one cool tool! And probably very easy to use as well.

I want to do something similar for a project of mine. Sadly, Core Animation doesn’t come out until july. So I thought maybe blender could help here. But, being a noob, I’ve ran across a few issues here.

  • how do you import jpg’s into Blender (aside from a background image)?
  • can you import mov’s or any other form of video?
  • if you import a whole library of images, how does Blender store these? Does it embed the images or maintain links to the original image set? That way it would be more convenient to change the image set (just overwrite the old pics with a set of new ones with the same names).

Lots of questions here, now the lots of answers please!

I hope all this is feasible Blender. Otherwise I’ll have to resort to other software.

You can apply images to a texture and apply that texture to a mesh object.

you can also apply movie files to textures.

Images link to the original file unless you choose to pack them into the file itself.

Yeah the easiest way would be to make a bunch of planes and apply the desired image as a texture. Then move and rotate to your hearts content.

Hey,

Thanks for the advice Hazza and Jesus. Works like a charm!

Cheers,
Nicolas
