Hi all:
I’m trying to develope a home-made method to create smoke.I could do it with Blender but, first, I dont really understand the process, and on the other hand, I want a lot of smoke and my computer is not good enough to manage the amount of memory I would need.
The process I am developing is long and dificult but allowes me to have a lot of control on the results. It goes like this:
1.- You develope an animation in PovRay using hard spheres mimicking the motion of smoke.
2.- Then you blur the images. I use a script for Gimp I made which is able to deal with a bunch of images, so it is not a big problem. In the same process you can tune the contrast, brightness, the blur, etc. One important step is to set the background of the image as alpha.
3.- Now that you have a set of images you can use them in Blender as a texture. If the dynamic created in PovRay is good you can get a decent smoke.
I’m still working on this so it can be improved.
Tell me what you think about it.
