Falloff curve for camera clip-end?

I’m wondering if it is possible to have my scene gently fade to transparency at the camera clip-end, instead of abruptly ending.

  1. You could animate Fog / Mist to make it appear that your scene is smoothly going out of existence. Kind of a like a dream or flashback that is ending. Fog / Mist can be found under:

Properties Editor - Render Properties - Volumetrics

  1. You could parent a plane mesh in-front of your camera and animate the plane’s base color/alpha. This isn’t the best approach, but it gets the job done.

  1. You could use compositing to fade-in / fade-out your render view.

That sounds like a good idea. I’ll see what I can come up with. Thank you.

mist is a pass, you can add it here:

set its parameters here:

and use it as a mask in the compositor
