Made a Fallout style metal badge. Any ideas on how to make it look more realistic?
I would start with an hdri in the background, you have reflections on your edgework there and those always look better with some form of texture on the reflection
After that…I would maybe find some brush stroke textures to apply a little displacement to emulate paint strokes or imperfections.
Nice work though.
If this badge were an actual metal object, there probably would be no “brush strokes.” They’re made by pouring plastic colors into the various areas, then baking the object to melt them into place. These materials, in my opinion, are entirely believable.
This is an entirely realistic depiction of just such a badge or pin. Excellent work.
