There has got to be a way for the OCIO configuration to allow for the preservation of the realism-based workflow presented in this thread while leaving room for those who do NPR and cartoons. I know the BF makes cartoons, but we also have a need to make it more difficult for users of other apps. to argue that Cycles is incapable of realism (ie. nothing more than Blender Internal version 2).
Earlier in the thread, there has been talk about an interface that would allow the various tradeoffs in terms of a realism-focused color transform to be tweaked, but I do not know if there is any way to do that without actually writing to the configuration file and hot-loading the changes back into Blender (which itself would be a major project).
