Why are my character’s feet sinking below ground level? This happens every single freaking time I animate, and I have no clue how to fix it short of going in and manually moving the feet in every individual frame. I set my keyframes at frame 10, and the feet were above ground. I set my keyframes at frame 20, and the feet were above ground. However, on the frames in between, the feet sink below ground. Clearly it’s a rotation issue, where I’m likely moving/rotating the wrong bones or something, but I have no idea how to fix this. This is the fifth time it’s happened (amongst 3 different characters).
It’s the design of your foot rig for one thing. It doesn’t look to be very complex, a good foot rig should be able to rotate around the toe and have a control for doing so.
Here’s what’s happening, at frame 10 your toe bone is perpendicular to the floor. At frame 20, your toe bone is diagonal to the floor. So in between frame 10 and 20, blender interpolates the bones positions on those frames, so they slowly and evenly move from one pose to the other over the course of 10 frames and pass thru the floor in the process.
Did you rig this yourself, or did you download it? I’ve downloaded a character from blendswap that I thought I would like to animate and have used, but I spent time fixing the rig up before I could use it, knowing it would suffer the same problems.

Thanks for your response! Are there any tutorials you know of on creating a good foot rig?
I rigged it myself; here’s the .blend if it helps.
