This is my second try at modelling a woman. My first try was the Joan of Arc tutorial. This attempts to use more correct but not real proportions and tries to fix some problems I ran into the first time around.
Very good.
For what I can see now seems that the shoulders are too high and the stomach too flat. More she lacks of the sternocleidomastoid shape from the clavicolae to the mandibola.
Wow, looking good. The proportions seem right, nice rear view. I agree about the flat stomach, that doesn’t look natural. I like the face, but the skull is too big (maybe the eyeballs too) and that gives her this baby look. Great modelling on the back and the ribcage. The pose is a bit strange, she is not standing up straight, but is sticking out her butt. Did you use reference pics?

I will add some more slope to the shoulders and see what can be done about the stomach. I haven’t done much in the neck area yet beyond sticking the head on the body – still looking for a good reference of the neck area.

LOL – I was shrinking and expanding the skull for about an hour just before I posted, I’ll give it another try. The eyes are intensionally at about 115% of real size (I like them that way).

Yes, she has her butt sticking out a bit although I’m surprised you noticed since I have only done the legs to the top of the knee. I did this to overcome a problem I had trying to animate/rig my first model. I believe I’ve heard it called the “incredible shrinking butt syndrome” on other threads. The butt shrinks too much when the model is posed in a bent over or sitting position. I used reference pictures for some of the body parts and then stitched them together.
Thanks for your replies, I’ll post an update incorporating your suggestions in a day or two.
stomach is fine IMHO and the only REAL problem I have is that the bottocks start so high up on the back and go so low making them look…um…“long”
As far as the other proportions, I think you should leave them as is. Everyone here will tell you how THEY think a girl should look. I think this looks just fine and doesnt really need to be the “ideal girl.” The proportions now give it a killer stylized look that it would be a shame to lose.
The shape of your spine is off. Fix that and I think some of your other pieces will fall into place.
Your back seems to have a stairstep shape. The buttocks form a shelf, then the back seems to rise in a mostly straight line until the sholders form a second shelf.
Not trying to brag, but I’ve used my model for contrast to show how the spine aligns so the neck is centered over the small of the back. There should be a gradual “s” shape to the spine.
Incorporated many of the suggestions I’ve received so far – stomach, buns, pose etc. Added some more of the legs. I expect the hands and feet will take me at least as long as what I’ve done so far (approx. 16 hrs)
