Hey, I just semi-recently discovered this awesome stuff called Ferrofluid, and here is a video showing the stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me5Zzm2TXh4 . It’s real and amazing so I felt that I must recreate it in Blender. I sort of experimented with metaballs and dupliverts to achieve this affect! The a meta plane and ball were used for the slight bulging of the surface and an icosphere with dupliverts of a subsurfed cone were used for the spikes. Let me know what you think, and what I can improve on! Also, I tried to add more bulge to it by moving the metaball further from the plane, but in the reflection I got a very strange horizontal lines running through it, and any help would be appreciated! Thanks

O.K. Perhaps…never mind, good job.
