Feulien - vicious videogame beast!

A guy wanted me to make a low polygon mesh for a game. This creature is quick and attacks with it’s claws and with it’s stinger.

[edit] Removed original conecpt art, which I did not make. [/edit]

Body modified and front legs added.

And with subsurfacing, thought it’s not intended as a sub-surfaced mesh:

This is a good model so far, though the subsurfing is a little unnecessary. I hope to see this model in the game eventually

The body is nearly complete, and I’m about ready to get into texturing. There are 3380 triangles, which is over the 3000 triangle budget. I’ll need to slim down the polys in a few areas, which shouldn’t be too big of a problem.

I just reduced the triangle count down to 2754, a difference of 626 triangles.

The model is nearly completed. There may now only be some minor vertex tweaking. I may not be doing the texturing or skeletal rigging – they may be done by somebody else.

So, what do you think?

Looks good!

There is very little change when you switch on sub surface, so that’s nice for a low-poly model. The last sections of the legs (the feet/pincers I guess) are a better shape without the sub surface.

Thanks for your comments. I’m happy about how it turned out. I feel it fairly accurately matches the concept art I started with. There are a few things which could possibly be improved. The bottom edge around the shell seems to look beter in real time than through the blender render. All in all, however, I am satisfied with it.
