File Presentation

Hey everyone,

When it comes to distributing files Mac OSX has a great option in terms of presentation with the .dmg. This format allows you to set the background of the ‘folder’, the size it takes up on screen when opened and the icon of the .dmg itself.

I’m looking to eventually start a tutorial site that focuses on covering the various areas of Blender in-depth. When distributing my tutorial files I would love to have the control over the presentation of them in the way the .dmg format allows. I was wondering if anyone knew if their way any way of achieving this on Windows and Linux. I done some researching but have not been able to come up with any information so I was hoping those on this forum with more experience on these platforms might be able to lend a hand.

Thnx in advance.

Have you looked into Adobe Air( http://www.adobe.com/products/air/ ), you could create an application that might fit your needs? Works on all the platforms, you can see samples here: http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/60-useful-adobe-air-applications-you-should-know/

I know a bit about AIR. Though don’t you need the frameworks installed to run an AIR app?

Either way I think I’ll look a bit deeper in into it… thnx.
If anyone else has any thoughts I would greatly appreciate a few options to weigh.

Yes, you do need it installed unfortunately.
