Filling a Curve - What am I doing wrong?

There is probably a simple answer to this, but at the moment I can’t imagine what it is.
Therefor I consult ye olde wise forum peoples.

I have a Curve Object that is connected to itself (a loop).
But for some reason I can’t fill it into a Segment.


When I type ‘F’ while all Curve points are selected I get “Error: Cannot make Segment.”

Why is this?
Am I overlooking something obvious, or is the process just not as obvious as it should be?

Fill it? That wording seems odd to me. Are you sure segment means what you think it means? Are you trying to make a face inside a curve?
